Self Sufficiency

Headgear – M14/M1A for those bowling-ly inquisitive

For a half done February, it is nice here in South Texas.  The mesquites and assorted puckerbrush flora are showing tinges of green.  The routine of late is a morning and evening walk followed by an hour or better of sittin’ out.  Maybe coffee, maybe not.   Vela Von chases the rubber ball incessantly.  Dogs don’t ask for much.

A Lifetime of Stoopid

Self portrait:  Puckerbrush Curmudgeon at 58

You ever been able to look back and pinpoint exactly where your life took a turn onto a different road?  Uh huh, me too.  Once upon a time,  schools in America actually taught subjects you had to master before they allowed you to pass on to the next grade or graduate.  Novel concept that has been sidestepped and deemed unnecessary in 21st Century Estados Unidos.  My downfall was Chemistry class in high school and college.  My high school chem classes were taught by a pair of opprobrious males that pushed that profligate envelope

I have a proprietary maxim called the 80% Rule.  It peeves me no end.  Seems to me we (collectively)  have learned to accept less than stellar products and services as the norm.  I sent this to a guy that sold me a Colts pistol last year that fell far short of his promises.

Folks, tell me something. When did we turn into a nation where an 80% effort is good enough? When did an 80% effort become acceptable? I emailed this to Georgia Jeffrey when he took offense to my being ‘so particular’:

Maybe I am just naive in my expectations. I
