500 gallon septic tank for RV Pad use

The real title of this blog entry oughta be Installing a Septic System on Unimproved Property for Recreational Vehicle Parking.  I like my title better.   This septic system will allow us to park the Old Girl (or any RV) on our 21 acres in Terlingua and it is what you might call an ‘outlaw system’.   No approved plans, no official soil tests, no inspections, no nothing — and we are perfectly legal.   In Terlingua Ranch, Brewster County, Texas no permits or inspections are required if your property exceeds 10 acres.   Simple and

Terlingua Time

It gets hot in the desert

It was no accident that we scheduled three weeks here to get out tasks accomplished.   There is no hurried pace or crowded

Mark One Chore Off the List

I returned back to the job near Calvert late Monday – as late as I could because my black tank was just getting fuller and fuller with no where to go.  14 days of occupation since I had last dumped the tank.

The disparate parts of a septic install

Today was the day that was going to change. We generally put in a 300 gallon tank. The septic systems don’t get alot of use when I am here because I am frugal and once we are gone they will only get intermittent use. No sense over-engineering the system.
