I was 13 or 14 when I saw a tornado first hand, We were hauling hay on a hot June day in the Mississippi River bottoms just outside of Finley, TN.  We had just brought a load of square bales into the barn to stack it when we saw a tornado bearing down on us. Another Hole Done

Weed washing in the snow- not a job I want.

Most likely as you are reading this, Miss K and I are packing up the Old Girl and the DTBs.  The assignment here east of Iraan,TX is drawing to a close after 45 days.  We fully expect to return to this immediate area because much of what is going on is exploratory and experimental in nature. If they get the results they are expecting from this Wolfcamp Shale,  it will be a big deal.

Ummmmmm! Turkey!

Boredom.  Monotony.  Heat.  Wind.  Dust.  Weather Bug says it is 106 degrees at 3pm.  That is the gate guard life.  Miss Kathy and I try and take advantage of the reduced traffic volume on the weekends.  Usually that means something is cookin’ up in the electric smoker.   This weekend the entree’ is smoked turkey.

Finally!  I get to go off shift and sit still for a little bit in the cool confines of the Old Girl.   No surprises today and the turkey should be ready by 5pm  — just right for us to get a good meal and
