At the Secret Hideout
A few years back, maybe 2014 or so, I predicted 12 hour guard shacks would one day replace the couple working out of their RV onsite. Seems like I was right. Local residents and single folks paying to stay in RV parks filled the ranks. Oh, there is still (some) demand for RVs onsite and I am sure some Winter Texans this winter will find positions. Sunday morning at the Hideout
When you are working a location as an oilfield security guard there are some universal rules even though you are a 1099 contractor. No guns, no drugs, no alcohol. I always abide by the rules even when the Company Man pointedly asks me if “I have protection?” and then follows the statement up with the reveal of a rather large handgun and “This place is the Wild West.

This week, a dear old friend chastised me for not getting on the Facebook Gate Guard page to check job opportunities. She said ‘You are being an old fart.’ meant in the kindest of fashion. The early years?
So there I was……….
Hangin’ out free in the RV park waiting on a new gate. ‘Bout 2000 on Sunday night and I was at the laundromat washing clothes when I got the call. Gate down south of Encinal (way south!) and they wanted me there at 0800-0900 in the AM. Fairly typical notification without alot of info. I asked they routine questions – What kind of gate is it?
