That must be nice. I can only trust my mother and myself to do the cooking. Everybody else has managed their way into staying out of our way. That said, I’d rather cook than clean, and them lazy dogs gonna do them some cleaning this evening.
Happy Thanksgiving, Andy…I’m thankful for your and K’s support over the last year, it’s meant a lot to me.
I’m in charge of grilling the festive Thanksgiving Day salmon–turkey of the sea–and for preparing the cucumber salsa that goes with it. Oh, and choosing and drinking my share of the wine (Honig sauvignon blanc and Mandolin pinot noir). My bro Mike and his family and Rebecca and her partner are with us again this year.
JUST OPENED SOME FESS PARKER WINE (NON-TWISTOFF BOTTLE) CLICKED ON THE ARGENT WEBLINK, WHOA.. I WAS ONE OF THOSE INDEPENDENT THINKING, BELL BOTTOM BLUEJEAN PEOPLE BACK IN THE DAY IN AUSTIN TAKING IN THE ATMOSPHERE AT ARMADILLO HEADQUARTERS, BREATHING THE PUNGENT THC AIR…. WHAT HAPPENED? NOW I’M A GUN TOTING, REPUBLICAN-REAGAN APPRECIATING SENIOR CITIZEN. MY HOW TIME CHANGES THINKING. I NOW ENJOY BETTER WINES, SMOOTHER WHISKEY, AND BEING LEFT ALONE!!
Thanks Andy,
I retired 2 yrs ago, actually was pushed out the door due to age, income level and the profit mentality of THE #@*@@**company I worked for, which preceeded the decision for retirement, thankfully my wife is one of those Realtors who actually cares for her clients, and the success followed her, and allowed me to remain re-tarred. We have a 5th wheel that gathers more dust than miles because my DW is dedicated to her craft for a few more years. I appreciate blogs, that wont dwell on what the bloggers ate for breakfast, and the frequent rhumatize attacks. Hell I have sore places too, avoid work when possible, and at all times appreciate good music, an interesting story (true or the tall tales), and new receipes for BBQ Rub.
had a little chuckle on the thought of proper Turkey baking. My ‘raised on a farm’ wife still has to ask which side up when it comes to Baking the Turkey. She had for years, promptly put the Bird, Breast side DOWN! even after I kept telling her to lay that Bird on it’s back, feet kicking in the air. But.. turkey chest down in the juices makes for a great tasting bird, not so much for looks, but Juicy-Tender for a fact. so pleased I stumbled on your blogsite, it makes for good reading. As a wise traveler passed on a blessing to me: May the wind never blow too much dust up your nose, and only the smoothest of whiskies pass your lips, live long and live loud.
I, too, have heard to place the turkey, breast-side down for a juicier white meat outcome. This year at Thanksgiving I didn’t get my son-in-law convinced that this is a better option, so he cooked the traditional way and I shut up and ate up. Yum!
That’s awesome, I get to boil the eggs for deviled eggs. After that the dog and I are getting the heck outta the way!

She knows who she is dealing with Scott. I detest clueless women.
I am glad we can share another Holiday Season. I miss my friends that didn’t make it.
