Jenny walked up to the door of the recreational vehicle and knocked. She could hear the Today Show blaring full tilt inside the trailer house. Knowing Dave was decidedly hard of hearing, she banged on the door harder. She could hear the dog whining softly on the other side of the door. She reached down to try the door and found the knob turned easily in her hand.
“Sailor? You in there Sailor? It’s Jenny from Hospice Care.” The old man looked peaceful in his recliner as she crossed the living room and turned the TV off. Buck watched expectantly from his spot next to the recliner. “Well Buck, he said he wanted to die at home. Can’t say as I can argue that. A cold hospital room is no place to spend your last days.” She took a seat at the dinette and got her cell phone out of her purse. She placed a call to the Sheriff’s office and Lori Notsinneh. Looking at Buck, she said ” Well mister, let’s see if we can find you some food and fresh water while we wait for everybody to get here.”
